1.  I voted for someone on Tuesday who was born the year I graduated from high school….that kinda made me feel old.

2.  While clearing the table for me yesterday the kids spilled soup all over the table and chair, dumped a  drink all over the floor and dirtied 7 or 8 dish towels ‘cleaning’ it up.  Remind me why I have them help.  (Of course, I suppose they could do things like that on purpose, huh?)

3.  One good thing about the cold weather, the snakes living under our back porch are hibernating and haven’t greeted me at the back step in two weeks.

1.  The twins were at church camp all  last week, and I really missed them.  I had to empty the dishwasher, feed the pets and do the cleaning myself.

2.  Oh, I’m just kidding, I also really missed tucking them in at night.

3.  Yet another girl/boy difference when I picked them up at camp.   

Makenna begged, ‘Mom, can I please go back and give my counselors and friends another hug before we leave….Oh, and take some pictures…and get their addresees.”

When I asked Jarod if he’d like to go say goodbye to his counselors and friends he thought about it for two seconds and said, “Nah.”

How is it that I can go away on ‘vacation’ for just 9 days, and yet I come home and it takes me 4 weeks to get caught up with my work?

After Jarod tried to shut the garage door on his twin sister today I made him write 10 reasons why he is grateful to have a twin sister.  He could only come up with 7 and it was things like ‘because she is my sister’.  Oh well.  I tried.

How can baby chicks be so adorable, and then grow up to look like…chickens.

1.  Anyone else have a comedian type husband?  When we signed our local tax form it had a line for occupation, and lacking a better term I used the standard ‘homemaker’ title.  My amusing husband looked around the overly messy school room that we were sitting in and said, ” uh, honey, really?”

2.  The law of the post office.  If you have to fill out paperwork at the post office (think certified mail) the place is empty until you’re almost done, then the lady comes in with 8 seperate packages to mail and takes 10 minutes to finish.

3.  Our cautious child….that would be Jarod….had a small spider on his bedroom wall the other morning.  I told him to get his twin sister to protect him but she was still sleeping.  Next I suggested he let it in there as a pet.  He said, “but mom, what if it was a tarantula?”   I’m not sure where he heard about tarantulas, but maybe I’ll get him one for Christmas just for fun.

1.  A chat I recently overheard between my eight year old twins.

Makenna:  “I finally decided what I want to do.  I want to be a scientist and take care of animals.”

Jarod:  “If the baseball thing doesn’t work out, I’ll join you.”

2.  I honestly can say I never ever realized just how much of my life would be taken up with doing laundry.  (and I even make the twins do most of theirs.)  Washing it, drying it or hanging it out to dry.  Sorting it, putting it away.  I want a laundry service.

3.  Do you think the dogs appreciate that I shovel special paths through the snow for them to be able to walk around and go potty?  

 ……the answer is no.  I put them out, and they proceeded to stumble through 17 inches of snow rather than walk in the paths.

1.  We’re just back from our trip.  The camper is unloaded the kids are ‘resting’ and I have about 10 loads of laundry staring me in the face.

2.  All that stress for nothing.   The people backed out of buying our house the day before…that’s right…less than 24 hours before they were to move in.  I will make no further comment, because it would not be nice.

3.  The twins had a super birthday, I guess the key is to go on vacation for their birthday.  I can’t count the number of times Makenna said, “this is the best birthday ever!”

4.  Nipper and Tasha missed us terribly and came out to greet us like we were the best people ever….I love dogs.

1.  The laws of mowing.   After 2 weeks without mowing we finally got our riding and push mowers back from the shop and it rained.

2.  You have to wonder what game your kids are playing when one comes to you saying her brother stuck a pencil up her nose, and the point broke off and is lodged way up in her nose.  (We eventually got it out.  No emergency room visit necessary.)

3.  My 7 year old daughter came up behind me today and pushed me Then she started laughing saying, “your butt is really squishy mom.”… I love having kids.

1.  When we dropped the twins off for a whole week of camp on Sunday I had such high hopes for getting lots of things done…it’s not happening.  I guess it’s kinda like when you have a baby and you think you’ll get alot done when they’re tiny and sleep alot and yet you never do.

2.  Why is it that when it rains alot and the grass is growing at record pace the two mowers we have can break simultaneously.

3.  I actually found myself admiring two eggs I got from our chickens today….they were a really nice shape and a pretty brown color….I think I need to get out more.

Did you know that if the tooth fairy has ‘too many appointments’ and can’t get to your house the night you’ve lost a tooth, she leaves extra money?

Are children and dogs equipped with a special ‘rug’ honing device so they will only pee, poop or throw up in the house on that one 10 X 12 rug in a home filled with (easy to clean) hardwood floors.

We can fit a car in our garage for the first time in 1 1/2 years!  I’m so excited.  Now if I could just organize the basement, and the other garage, and paint the kids rooms and ……..

Why is it that the earlier I get up to have ‘quiet time’ in the morning before anyone else gets up, the earlier the kids get up?

Three things I learned while away at the Indy 500.

My almost two year old can now reach the locks in most public rest room stalls.  (Trying to use the potty while the door opens 6-8 times is not easy.)

The stuff that you need to take to keep 3 kids content for a four night trip fills the back of a large pick up truck.

My three kids can actually talk and bicker and fight nonstop (and not sleep at all) on an 11 hour car ride.

…but we’ll still be going again next year,

I already ordered our tickets.

The twins rendition of climbing the fence like the winner did.  Albeit this fence is for the Formula 1 track in the inside of the speedway and not the actual Indy 500 fence.

This years race winner Helio Castroneves (he won Dancing with the Stars a few years ago.)  This was taken as he signed autographs the day before the race….as Jarod cried by my side because he wanted to wait in the insanely long line to get his autograph… and I being the mean mommy refused.

A long Saturday at the track.   She fell asleep on a Firestone tire poster.  The untold part of this photo was that we stopped to take it because an overly ’spirited’ college boy had been mooning some friends in the other direction and we needed to divert the twins attention this way.
